The LAC meetings, chaired by a designated LAC official, have proven effective in involving a group of teachers in cooperation and the resolution of common challenges. LAC sessions promote critical thinking among teachers, which increases understanding and knowledge of the curriculum and teaching practices. Dr. Dina Ocampo, from the College of Education at the University of the Philippines, has launched a project to develop LAC meeting guides to improve the learning process in Grade 6. From 20 to 24 May 2019, the team held a 5-day regional training workshop for 57 participants from the 19 school departments in the Central Visayas region. Participants learned how to organize and manage LAC meetings in their schools; and how to effectively monitor science education by integrating practical activities and worksheets.
